Mr Arthur's Chalkboard
Mr Arthur's Chalkboard is a delicious and magical apple tree bursting with apples, but you can draw any autumn imagery you love. This guide is to bring you inspiration for your own deliciously autumnal image to delight your darlings.
Begin by lightly sketching the outline of your tree and add dropping branches to hold your apples
Draw apples in clusters and alone and add a few stray leaves
Fill all your thin branches with apples
I used green for my apples as I don't have red
Add light tones to build upon
Now begin chalking over the top of your white image with colour
Build the layers of colour on your apples. I used orange and yellow as shadows and light
Add a deeper colour to shadowy areas
Begin adding darker brown shades to the apple tree, thinking about where the sun would hit
Don't worry about being too precise; this adds to the dreaminess of the picture
I like to use either pink or purple to shaded areas to add a magical feel to the tree
