Ingredients

2/3 cup of butter, softened
1 cup of sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp icing sugar
edible glitter or sprinkles (I used sugar balls for this picture)

Tools

mixing and wooden spoon
bowl for dry ingredients
drinking glass
skewer (or something similar
baking sheet
baking paper
small paintbrush

Method

Cream butter and sugar in a bowl
Add egg and mix
Combine dry ingredients and add to wet mixture
Stir until a dough starts to form, then tip onto the counter and work the dough into a ball with your hands.
(If the mix is too crumbly, add water 1 tbsp at a time)
Flatten the ball slightly, place into a bowl, cover and put in fridge for 30 minutes
Preheat oven to 180C/356F
Lightly flour counter and roll dough to 1/2 inch thick
Using the drinking glass, cut circles from the dough
Either press a star shaped indent into each cookie with a skewer, or press sugar balls into the dough in a star formation
(wiggle the skewer a little to make a wide enough indent for the glitter to be sprinkled in)
Line a baking sheet and bake cookies for 10 mins
(Cookies should be pale with just a hint of brown around the edges)
Once cool, mix the icing sugar and water to make a runny glue
Use a small paintbrush to paint inside the indents
Sprinkle with edible glitter
Shake off excess glitter. Leave to dry for a few minutes
Then enjoy x
